Sampling

Over the course of a day the number of devices reporting data to our servers typically decreases. This can cause issues with the reported figures, for example it may look like the support act at a festival was more popular than the headline act. To combat this we apply a ‘Sampling Rate Adjustment’ to the numbers returned by the Feature Stats and Analytics Queries APIs.

This adjustment is an estimate which means the numbers can vary by < 1% but will provide much more accurate results when comparing the number of devices or people that attended various events.

For this adjustment to be made there must be a region called “VENUE” that defines the perimeter of the event.
